# Notes to Quiz > Turn study notes, a PDF or a Word file into multiple-choice, short-answer and fill-the-blank questions plus flashcards. Every item explains its answer and cites the numbered line of the notes it came from, with a quote the page checks word for word. Practise in the browser with scoring, review on a spaced-repetition schedule saved to your account, and export to Anki. No API key needed: each deck is paid per run with SkillSafe credits. URL: https://notes-to-quiz.skillsafe.ai/ API: https://notes-to-quiz.skillsafe.ai/api.html ## What it does - Reads PDF (text layer), DOCX, TXT, Markdown and HTML files in the browser, or pasted notes, and numbers them line by line. Nothing is uploaded until you make a deck. - You choose how many multiple-choice, short-answer, fill-the-blank and flashcard items to make (up to 20, 15, 15 and 30) and the difficulty: recall, mixed or understanding. - Long notes (over about 24,000 characters) are sampled evenly across the whole text, or you pick a range of lines; the page shows exactly which lines are sent and marks the gaps. - The model (SkillSafe gpt-terra tier) writes the deck from those lines only. Each item names its source lines and quotes one of them. - The page checks every item: the quote is searched in the notes and marked verified, close or not found; items citing lines that were not sent are flagged; multiple-choice items with duplicate choices are flagged; a coverage list shows which sections got no items. - Practice mode: one question at a time, multiple-choice choices shuffled, typed answers matched with tolerance for typos, articles and number words, "close" answers you can mark yourself, a score and a per-topic breakdown at the end. - Review mode: spaced repetition (SM-2 style: again, hard, good, easy) over flashcards and questions; missed quiz questions come back sooner. The schedule is saved per deck to your account. - Second runs: "Make more" writes new items that avoid every question you already have; "Drill my weak spots" writes new items focused on the lines behind the questions you missed. - Export: Anki CSV (Basic note type, every item), Anki Cloze CSV (fill-the-blank items as {{c1::...}}), a printable Markdown quiz with an answer key, and JSON. - Signed-in decks are saved to your account (the items and the text of the lines they cite); your full notes are never stored. ## Price Free to open, to practise, and to try with the two built-in sample notes (their decks replay at no cost). Making a deck from your own notes is one metered run: the page shows the reserve before you run and the actual charge after. ## Limits - Scanned PDFs without a text layer cannot be read; run OCR first. - Questions are written by a model and can be wrong. Open the cited line before relying on an answer.
